Tacori: Behind the Brand
Haig and Gilda Tacorian’s jewelry empire origin story begins in Communist Romania where Gilda’s father, Harry Balian, was a jeweler who was ordered to turn in all currency and precious metals by the government. Balian even got in trouble with the law for crafting a gold wedding ring for a friend. That’s how deep the family’s artisan roots ran.
The Balian family emigrated to the United States in the 1960s. Haig, Gilda’s husband, emigrated in 1970 and joined the family business to create inspired jewelry designs.
